Identity Abstraction

After recollecting Paleozoic aquatic past lives lived off the coast of Pangea whilst walking in present-day Joshua Tree, queer ex-pat-Canadian-architect-turned-artist Krister Holmes began obsessively painting.

Drawn to depictions of interior states and psychologies, computational recapitulations of landscapes, and the expressions of unique, part-formed identities, Holmes paints an in-between land both occult and guilelessly expressive, depicting worlds squishing free of the pressures of figuration abstraction power and gender.
